Feeling Alive

(BTW, I invite anyone and everyone in this tribe to post separate threads of their own with questions, comments, observations, complaints about how the rest of the world just doesn't "get it", and so on. Be creative and remember that you are among kindred spirits! *smile*)

When do you feel the most alive? You may feel free to respond to this question in a sexual context if you wish, but that is not necessary. Besides, such experiences may be beyond words! I know that they are for me, anyway. *ahem*

What makes me feel most alive is feeling CONNECTED to another person. For me, that occurs most often through written correspondence, first because that is my preferred way of expressing myself, and second because writing is my sole method of communication with my closest friends, many of whom I have never met in person, nor have I spoken with them on the phone.

In these days of instant gratification via e-mail, there is nothing more I enjoy than curling up with a good...letter. I am fortunate to have some friends who, even though they have ready access to e-mail, prefer writing me long, long snail mail letters. Receiving such letters makes me want to drop everything and respond right away! Yet writing the proper response, after careful consideration of each word, sentence, and paragraph in my friend's letter, can take a week or more and *lots* of paper and ink!

I also feel very alive (in a state of heightened sensation, one might say) when I unexpectedly hear from a friend of the past. A few years back, I heard from a guy with whom I had taken a college course in particle physics back when we were in high school. Twenty years after the fact, and remembering only my maiden name, he was able to find me on the Internet. That he should have thought of me two decades later made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :-) And I dropped everything I was doing and immediately wrote him back.

And then there are those e-mail penpals who make my heart flip just to see their names in my mailbox...

When do you feel the most alive?

well, when I am in a sweat lodge, when I am drumming, when I am making love, I feel most connected to the universe and everyone. That is what I call living... there have been moments in my life when the past, present, and future have aligned in my life and I know what I need to do next!!!

Although it seems like the context frames my experience, I would go on to add that times in nature have also given me this 'quiet' moments... while cycling along, while hiking along the way, while getting lost in the forest!

Showing kindness and tolerance to someone who isn't used to it.

Yes Glenn that is the same for me. I feel most a live when I do things for people just because I feel they could use a smile on their face. Awesome people need to know they are awesome. Giving is what makes me feel alive.

Stimulating my brain with new places always makes me feel this way too.

The other day, one of my favorite songs came on the player, I was eating a chocolate custard (with banana chunks!) and holding the hand of my new-ish beloved boyfriend--and I thought, Wow, this is how it's supposed to be.

Otherwise, whenever I connect with someone and have a great conversation for hours, explore something and actually feel curious... the rest of the things, well, the details are for other pervier tribes, methinks.

Music, going out when I actually feel up to it and when my boyfriend is there for me the whole day.
I feel THE MOST alive when I make a connection with someone else. It may be with a friend , or someone I just met, but when i have a smile on my face from good equal conversation and maybe a nice hug...thats when I feel most alive!!!

I feel most alive when I am being creative....when I am in the moment or connecting with a model on a photo shoot or dancing with my Tribal girls or having an intense conversation with those close to me about life, art, etc.

I guess I feel most alive when:

I am writing something that really makes me think-- be it on the computer, or longhand (I am one of the old fossils who still writes snail mail letters)

When I am in nature and feel completely "present" in the magnificence of the Universe around me.

When I feel totally connected-- emotionally, intellectually, physically, psychically-- with another person... and that can involve making love, or not.

When something I have been "visualizing" for a really long time suddenly comes true.
